Northstar Labs · Effective October 16, 2026
Northstar is built on one idea: your memory is yours. This page explains, in plain words, what Northstar keeps, what it doesn't, and how you stay in control.
What Northstar keeps
Only when Memory is on (you can turn it off any time in Settings):
- Your chats: what you said and what Northstar answered, so you can pick up where you left off and search past conversations.
- Saved memory: facts you approved, for example "I have a cat." Nothing is saved without your OK.
- Projects you choose to keep: the goal, decisions and next step.
- Videos you make or save in Northstar, and their folders.
We also keep a daily usage count (a number, not your words) to keep the service running safely.
What stays on your iPhone
- Your settings: voice, speed, appearance, reading aloud.
- When you ask about your schedule, your next 7 days of calendar are read on your phone and sent only for that one answer. They are not stored.
- Calendar events and reminders are added to your iPhone's own Calendar and Reminders, and only when you tap Add.
What Northstar does not keep
- Photos you ask about are sent once so Northstar can see them, then discarded.
- Your exact location. For nearby suggestions, only your city is sent.
- Your voice. Speech is turned into text on your phone. Only the text is sent.
- Your name or email from Apple. Sign in with Apple is optional and only proves it's you.
We don't sell your information, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
How we improve Northstar
We count, in general, which features get used (for example Concierge or Calendar), the general topic of a question (like "travel" or "health"), and short names for things people ask that Northstar can't do yet. These counts never include your words, your name or your email, and they are deleted after 180 days.
Services that help Northstar work
To answer you, Northstar sends what's needed to these providers, who process it for us under their own privacy terms:
- Anthropic (Claude): writes Northstar's answers and searches the web when needed.
- Supabase: securely stores your account, chats and saved memory.
- ElevenLabs: turns replies into speech when you choose a premium voice.
- Google (Veo): makes short videos when you ask for one.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, Maps for places, and your on-device Calendar and Reminders.
Your choices
- See, change or delete any saved memory or chat in the app.
- Turn Memory off in Settings. Northstar then keeps nothing new.
- Delete everything from Settings, or email us and we'll delete your data.
Children
Northstar is not intended for children under 13.
